The Assignment: Before the Book
Choose an object to draw in five different ways for total of one hundred sketches. The five rendering directions—Guttural, Synthesized, Abstract, Graphic and Curvilinear are inspired by Bruno Munari's logo work. Once choosing one of the sketches to further develop (I chose the Synthesized cover image)  Explore fifty mockups and choose the most successful lock up to use as inspiration for the next part of your project.

The Assignment: The Final Lock Up
Duck, Duck Book: The Inception
I be honest when I was challenged to choose an object to make into a book—a departmental joke about how many duck themed projects i had completed during that semester ultimately affected my final decision. I am definitely not one to back down from challenge so Duck, Duck Book the concept was born. The title came to me pretty naturally, as an absolute pun fiend putting a spin on Duck, Duck Goose sounded like the best name for my book on rubber ducks. It had the whimsy and charm that embodies the novelty and nostalgia of rubber ducks.
Duck, Duck, Inspiration
There is a game that is played on cruise ships in which cruise goers will bring rubber ducks with them and hide them in places all over the ship. Coming off of the rubber ducky scavenger hunt high is where I got the main inspiration from for my Object Book Assignment. At the same time I am also a huge fan of the show "How It's Made" so finding out the intricacies of how rubber ducky production works was such a tempting topic to delve into I couldn't resist choosing it as my object.

Part 1: Putting Ideas to Paper (Illustrator)
The Goals:

1) Interactivity: Making the book interactive, embodying the playful energy of rubber duckies and mimic the action of playing with a rubber duckie in the bathtub.

2) Tactility: I wanted to create a book that you can pick up and feel and immediately know what the book was abou just by feeling the cover
 Part 2: Designing The Inserts
How The Goals Were Accomplished:

1) Interactivity: I created a mechanism using a popsicle stick, painters tape and a paper rubber ducky to create the
ability to pull the rubber ducks through the bathtub inserts simulating the ducks floating in the bathtub. The other way was designing a pocket with an insert that shows different ways rubber duckies can be used apart from it's typical use as a bath toy.

2) Tactility: I created the cover of Duck, Duck, Book to look like a bathtub full of ducks and you can fully touch and interact with the ducks. The cover is also rmovable to make the page viewing experience easier.
